SPECIALIZED EPIC EVO EXPERT MOUNTAIN BIKE 2021

Combining the speed and efficiency of an XC race bike and the all-terrain abilities of a trail bike, Specialized’s Epic Evo Expert Mountain Bike is perfect for a wide range of riding. The FACT 11m carbon frame has Progressive XC Geometry, which translates roughly as longer, lower and slacker. The head angle is now 66.5° for true all-mountain capability, but by switching the Flip-Chip the bottom bracket can be raised 6mm and the head angle steepened by 0.5° if preferred. The rear end gains 10mm of travel over the standard Epic, and the front end 20mm, with the RockShox SID Select+ fork providing 120mm of terrain-taming travel. The Brain shock has also been swapped for a more standard unit that is active all the time, protecting the rider and providing traction.

Despite these changes, the Evo is still an Epic at heart, so it’s quick and efficient, but with greater capability on longer and tougher rides, making it ideal for multi-day and marathon-style races or for longer, fast days out. A dropper seatpost, 4-piston SRAM G2 RS hydraulic disc brakes and a Ground Control front tyre add the finishing touches to its credentials.

Elsewhere, SRAM’s X01 Eagle 12-speed drivetrain ensures perfect, crisp shifting across the wide 10-50 tooth cassette and the 25mm internal width Roval Control Carbon wheelset is tubeless-ready, light and stiff, offering great support to the 29” tyres.
